The concept of energy is very prevalent in the wellness space for entrepreneurs. Your energy and vibes as a business owner have more of an effect on your business than you may realize. When we aren’t careful, or intentional, our energy can affect others and our business in a way we may not have intended. Oftentimes, when things go awry, we look to outside forces that may be causing our goals to not come to fruition. In reality, we should be looking within, and evaluating/reflecting our energy and world. If you don’t like what you see, change something about it! There are so many factors that come into play. When looking to shift your energy, reflect on these 5 traits below, as many successful entrepreneurs in the wellness industry attain these values.
A strong business starts with a strong foundation. Setting an intention will help you as a business owner plan out your goals, and follow them. If you wander aimlessly through starting your business and just run on “hoping” that all will go well, that won’t be enough! For example, setting SMART Goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely) can really help you put forth the most effective energy into your business. Really try to live and embody your goals, setting the Law of Attraction into action. Part of the perks of being a business owner is that YOU get to decide what you want to do with your life and business. You don’t have to sit around and wait for someone to tell you to do something. Decide what you want, and go for it!
Millana Snow from Mindbodygreen states, “Being a highly magnetic business owner requires you to embody, project, and be unafraid of your own authentic power. To own who you are, and accept who you are not.” As an entrepreneur, you will be called into situations that you have never had to deal with before, and it takes a lot of courage and bravery to be able to handle the unknown. There is already a lot of bravery that goes into starting your business, and even more, is required to keep your business going and growing. Remove outside thoughts and opinions, attune to your intuition, trust your gut, and be brave.
Going back to the concept of energy, setting boundaries with your work-life balance and others is crucial to the success of your business and your sanity. As an entrepreneur, it can often feel as though your business is becoming your life. Rather than working a 9-5, you now work 24/7. To hold energy and space for yourself, practice setting a schedule for yourself so that you may focus on work during work time, and be able to focus on private life during private time. In addition to setting boundaries with yourself, it is also a necessity to set boundaries with other people. Take note of where your boundaries may be lacking, and have those brave conversations with others to let them know where you are coming from. Your friends, employees, and clients will appreciate you more for it. Your honesty may even be the very thing to gain your clients' loyalty and set you apart from others!
Integrity can be defined in two ways, one as the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles, and the other as a state of being whole and undivided. You started your business for a reason. You must trust and believe in yourself, as well as remind yourself of why you started your business. Don’t listen to what others are doing in the industry; you know how you are here to serve others. Once you trust in yourself, that energy will translate, and your community will trust in you too.
As mentioned above, it takes a lot of courage to start your business, and even more to keep it going. When we become in tune and connected to why we started our business in the first place, we must embody our mission and vision statements as to how we will serve our communities. Follow-through is the action here. You can say you will do something, yet actually doing it is another. Check in with yourself, and do activities that will allow you to be able to persevere. You must first care for yourself before you can care for others. Find what fills your cup; it could be daily meditation, going on walks, taking naps, or reading a good book.
In Brene Brown’s book Rising Strong, she uncovers the reality that vulnerability—the willingness to show up and be seen with no guarantee of outcome—is the only path to more joy, belonging, creativity, and purpose! While living a brave life is not always easy – and we will inevitably stumble and fall from time to time—it is in getting up and “rising strong” that we gain purpose and passion in our lives. Brené is perfectly describing the entrepreneurial process and challenge! So, are you brave enough to be an entrepreneur?
