“I fall more in love with the work every day,” proclaims Linda Bennett, Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and the Program Director for SWIHA’s Hypnotherapy programs, “I have been involved in this field for 25 years and I’ve seen incredible transformation occur through the use of this modality.”
“For me,” she explains, “it’s all about connecting the head and the heart. When the two are disconnected from each other, imbalances take place and there is illness of some sort.”
During a Hypnotherapy session, the client’s attention is turned completely inward, utilizing the resources deep within themselves to create profound change. It’s commonly used alongside other forms of medical or psychological treatment for things such as: pain management, treatment of addiction, sleep disorders, and anxiety and depression.
“I have seen time and time again the changes that are facilitated through the process of hypnosis. I have seen people blossom in ways even they hadn’t expected,” says Linda Bennett, “I have also seen students become amazing professional practitioners helping others find healing.”
Understandably, one of those most common questions that we receive from those considering a career as a Clinical Hypnotherapist is: “What can I do after I become certified?”
The answer is: so much!
Banner Estrella Medical Center in Arizona started offering guided imagery to their patients, and a number of SWIHA graduates chose to be volunteers in the pilot program. This program is now in seven different departments, including the Emergency Department, assisting patients with pain management, stress management, and nausea levels.
A number of hypnotherapists develop a niche, market themselves strategically, and build their client base via a private practice. Hypnotherapists with a private practice will sometimes have a physical location where they perform sessions or assist their clients from a distance through the use of technology.
Hypnotherapy has been proven successful or as a component of combined therapy with chiropractic care, acupuncture or nutrition counseling. Many forward-thinking medical professionals now understand the power of healing the complete mind, body, and spirit and partner with Hypnotherapists to offer the most comprehensive care to their patients.
With streaming services becoming increasingly popular for music, podcasts and audiobooks, some Hypnotherapists choose to record guided imagery sessions for relaxation and healing at home. This is a great source of supplemental income (platforms usually pay a small amount per-play), as well as a wonderful way to attract new clients.
Self-publishing has become increasingly simpler, leading some practitioners to publish their scripts for purchase as a download, e-book or even physical book for other hypnotherapists to utilize and adapt. As with the recorded sessions, this is a potentially lucrative source of supplemental income.
Those seeking healing don’t have to travel to an office to experience the benefit of a hypnotherapy session. Many hypnotherapists now come to their clients via Skype, Facetime, or other video-meeting platforms. Utilizing this technology opens up the potential client base and is also very convenient for both the practitioner and client.
Linda believes that “SWIHA is a magical place. Everyday transformation is happening whether it’s on campus or online classes.“
Southwest Institute of Healing Arts’ offers a Clinical Hypnotherapy Certificate, which is available online and on campus for those who wish to develop and deepen their skills and strengthen their abilities. Students completing this program are eligible to take the certification processes for the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners (ACHE) and the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association (IMDHA).
“Welcome home!” exclaims Linda, “We are delighted you are here and can’t wait to see the impact you will have on the world.”
