Before SWIHA, Shelley had already impacted lives as an intuitive guide and yoga/meditation teacher. Despite her success, she felt something was missing. "I found that in the readings I provided clients, there was a feeling like I was left hanging," she shares. Shelley yearned to create a business rooted in integrity, where she could support clients fully and see them through their personal journeys.
This desire led her to the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts, where the curriculum of the Integrative Healing Arts Practitioner (IHAP) program immediately resonated. "Seeing the courses lit a spark in my soul," Shelley recalls. Her natural connection to lineage, intuition, and the spiritual realm found a nurturing home, allowing her to refine her gifts while expanding her ability to hold space for others.
The Right Path
Shelley describes how the synchronicity of the IHAP program’s exercises aligned with her life experiences, affirming she was on the right path. Through her studies, she deepened her spiritual practices and discovered tools for building a sustainable business. "The building business aspect was extremely helpful in streamlining my sometimes chaotic creative process into something very constructive," Shelley asserts.
Challenges as Catalysts
Shelley’s journey has not been without challenges. From navigating life as a new mother to battling cancer, she faced adversity with unwavering authenticity and strength. These experiences shaped her work and perspective, creating a foundation of compassion and understanding for her clients.
Today, Shelley provides a diverse array of services at her business House of the Mystical Maven, including Intuitive Coaching, Tarot Readings, Reiki Energy Healing, Mandala Art Classes, Yoga, Meditation, and Botanical Healing Care. Her gentle and calming nature builds a bridge for her clients to connect with their true selves, making her a beacon of light and support.

Since graduating, Shelley’s life has transformed. "I am in the same exact place I was when I began, only now I am filled with resources, a functioning website, a client base, and a much more relaxed sense of how my work expands," she reflects. Letting go of resistance and leaning into the flow of life have been pivotal lessons she carries with her.

Shelley’s wisdom for future SWIHA students is simple yet profound: "Start where you are. Remember where your feet are with each step. The biggest hurdle is not running faster than your feet can keep up." She emphasizes the importance of balance and enjoying the process, knowing that the energy invested will come back tenfold.
