“Holistic living means that your spiritual, relational, emotional, intellectual, physical, and financial lives are working together.” - Tsh Oxenreider
Kryss Huang was not a stranger to living a holistic lifestyle when she came to SWIHA. This community was a home away from home, for Kryss. She explains, “I love SWIHA, SOY, and SWINA. I feel at home each time I go to any of these beautiful places.” Kryss had been living a holistic lifestyle for the majority of her life. It felt like a natural choice to pursue studies at Southwest Institute of Healing Arts. About 10 years ago, Kryss actually attended the Western Herbalism and Nutrition programs and felt incredibly comfortable at SWIHA. Her life path eventually led her back to SWIHA to enroll in the Hypnotherapy program.
Kryss elaborates, “It was a life-altering decision that lead me to discover hypnotherapy. And after I realized how awakening and empowering it was I knew it was something I wanted to use professionally. I had already been using hypnosis on my children to help them to sleep for years without even knowing it!”
Hypnotherapy is a powerful way to support people in making needed life changes. Hypnosis induces a deeply relaxed state of inner concentration and focused attention, nurturing decisions from a state of awareness and clarity, in the safety and comfort of a hypnotherapy session.
There were many defining moments throughout Kryss’ time in the program, however, the one that stood out the most was, “...when I learned the tone, volume, and active listening component of hypnosis was highly encouraged to be soothing. I naturally have this so that’s when I knew I was made for this modality.” Kryss experienced the ‘aha’ moment that most SWIHA students experience when it finally clicks that this was where they were meant to be and do. Kryss found her purpose in serving others through hypnotherapy. “My life has significantly changed. Especially, by how my natural ability to be calming and soothing is noticed, valued, and respected,” states Kryss.
Kryss has been busy since she graduated from the Hypnotherapy program. Kryss incorporates hypnosis, specifically breath work and visualization into the yoga classes that she teaches as well with her personal yoga clients. Kryss also enjoys writing hypnosis poetry. In addition, Kryss has started a podcast where she records meditations as well as touches on a variety of topics. Additionally, “I create content, empowering those who experience a menstrual cycle that they can embrace their phases with ease and powerfully use them for their benefit” asserts Kryss. Kryss does not have an official business just yet, however, she mentions something is in the works!
When reflecting back on her time during the program, Kryss believes the greatest lesson learned was “to embrace and celebrate my own voice.” And for anyone who is considering enrolling in a program at SWIHA, Kryss proclaims, “Really sink into the studies. Give yourself at least an hour each day to dial into the content and time to reflect on what it is bringing up in you. Also, connect with other students, they could be forever friends! Mine are!”
