Mari Rubio Discovered Her Life’s Purpose is Serving Others as a Hypnotherapist

Posted by Jade Marvin on 2/21/23 4:00 PM

Life before SWIHA for Mari Rubio was filled with many life-altering moments. Mari, having already been exposed to the power of Hypnotherapy, was sharing the methodology of HypnoBirthing with expectant parents. Mari shares, “Through this work, I started to develop a fascination with the powers of the mind. I wanted to learn how hypnosis could be applied to other areas. I was certified in general hypnosis in 2018, just a year before I lost my husband of 19 years unexpectedly to pneumonia. In evaluating my life and purpose, I decided I wanted to further explore hypnosis.” Thus began Mari’s journey at the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts when she enrolled in the Hypnotherapy program in 2020 to gain a deeper understanding of the various Hypnosis applications.

April Avalos Honors Her Purpose in Helping Others through the Power of Hypnotherapy

Posted by April Avalos on 1/25/23 8:00 AM

Advanced Professional Hypnotherapy Graduate April Avalos shares her story of loss, and how living with intention and purpose brings happiness to her life day by day.

What was your life like before SWIHA? What led you to SWIHA and to your particular program of study? Why are you passionate about this modality?:

Before SWIHA my life was on autopilot I was literally living each day just to survive the struggles I was having at the time and not enjoying the moments of calmness because I didn’t even recognize them at the time. I started seeing my daughter's hypnotherapist to help me with my stress and anxiety and when I saw the results which brought sanity back into my life, I was amazed and wanted to learn everything I could about hypnotherapy so that I can use this holistic approach to continue to help myself and at the same time help those in my inner circle. Now my heart, my desire, especially after my daughter died, is to help others.

How Lourdes Menendez Accomplished Her Goals and Beyond with the Power of Intention

Posted by Jade Marvin on 1/20/23 8:00 AM

In honor of National Be On-Purpose Month, this January 2023, SWIHA Great Graduate and Healing Arts Practitioner Lourdes Menendez shares how intention and mindfulness show up in her life. Lourdes asserts, “Before SWIHA I had goals and purposes, however, I was not focused on how to continue living on purpose to achieve those goals. Then, the universe led me to SWIHA. I was randomly looking for a school to learn Hypnotherapy and an internal voice said ‘that one right there’ exactly when I was reading SWIHA's mission statement! I am passionate about Hypnotherapy because the benefits are limitless. Our subconscious is deep and has a limitless capacity and all the answers are inside us.”

Healing Addiction: Heather Vanek’s Journey to Health & Happiness

Posted by Heather Vanek on 1/4/23 8:00 AM

Addiction is a neuropsychological disorder characterized by a persistent and intense urge to use a drug or engage in certain behaviors, despite substantial harm and other negative consequences. Repetitive drug use often alters brain functions in ways that perpetuate cravings and weakens self-control. According to hhs.gov, in 2017, the US department of Health and Human Services declared a public health emergency calling it the US opioid Epidemic. As American Addiction Center states “according to the national survey on drug use and health (NSDUH), 19.7 million American adults (12 and older) battle a substance use disorder in 2017.” Addiction touches so many lives directly, or indirectly through loved ones. My hope is to share my strength and the tools I have found to combat addiction.

Being a Highly Sensitive Person

Posted by Sherrie Perret on 12/8/22 4:00 PM

Have you ever been told that you are too sensitive, too touchy, that you take things too personally, or even that you are too nice to people? I hear these things on a daily basis and if you have been told these things, chances are you could be a Highly Sensitive Person too. We are all sensitive to some degree; however, some of us are HSP (Highly Sensitive Persons). I am HSP. What is HSP and how do you get it? This is what I have learned about HSP. First, let me clarify that HSP is not a disorder, condition, or diagnosis, it’s a personality trait also known as sensory processing sensitivity (SPS) and approximately 15% to 20% of the population are HSP. Highly Sensitive People process all information more deeply including all types of stimuli such as emotions, what they see, hear, feel, and touch and are aware of subtleties that other people miss.

How Alexandria Taft Followed Her Heart to Help Others with Customized Coaching Sessions

Posted by Jade Marvin on 10/13/22 4:00 PM

Before I came to SWIHA I was very much steeped into one method of meditation in a close-knit community that surrounded it. However, it became a dogmatic life for me that eventually led me to suffer from being in a fixed mindset. After a 360 reality collapse, I began opening my mind to other things and intuitively leaning into a growth mindset. Which ultimately led me to SWIHA.

How Suzanne Lucero Went From Hospice Nurse to Holistic Entrepreneur by Awakening People’s Hearts

Posted by Jade Marvin on 9/22/22 4:00 PM

Just before I enrolled, due to a near-death experience, I began going through a transformational spiritual awakening. I was confused by all the personal changes I was experiencing. I knew I wanted to do something, yet I did not know what or where to begin. I was a certified nursing assistant in the Hospice field for 24 years. I was divinely guided to help people in a new way. The divine message I received was to awaken people's hearts. Then I found SWIHA and enrolled. The adviser helped to point me in the direction of Hypnotherapy. The Integrative Healing Arts Practitioner program with a focus in Hypnotherapy taught me the tools I didn't even know I needed for my own self-healing. As I went through the program, I underwent my own healing journey and came out as the best version of myself. I now have the confidence that I will only get better and better from here.”

How Leah Morris Went From Being Unemployed to Starting Her Own Six-Figure, International Coaching Practice

Posted by Jade Marvin on 7/21/22 4:00 PM

We often hear the phrase ‘you have to pay your dues’ in situations where someone starts out in a new career field. This phrase translates to the understanding that you have to first experience difficulties before reaching success. This does not have to be a reality for everyone. Leah Morris, Life Coaching and Hypnotherapy Graduate from SWIHA states, “The greatest lesson I learned at SWIHA was that with the right intention and a massive amount of integrity, your efforts can take you anywhere.” Basically, if you are willing to work hard and put forth effort into what you want out of life, you can achieve anything!

Mindset over Matter: How Jami Papenberg Followed Her Heart & Light

Posted by Jade Marvin on 5/12/22 4:00 PM

I had settled into a comfort zone before SWIHA. Back in 2008, I decided I wanted to become a massage therapist, and I wanted to get out of the Midwest and start my life over in Arizona. I bought a plane ticket and scheduled a tour of SWIHA, then met a guy who wanted me to stay in the Midwest. I took the trip, toured the school, and really liked it, yet I let that guy talk me into staying and going to massage school in St. Louis, closer to home. We divorced in 2018 -- turns out living someone else's dream doesn't lead to much happiness. Over the years I've become passionate about mental health, from healing from the traumatic birth of my son in 2011 to navigating divorce, and seeing how my massage clients could gain so much more healing if they worked on their emotional health as much as they worked on their physical health. I had my eye on life coaching, and what popped up on my first Google search was SWIHA! Things came full circle, and I took it as a sign.”
