Journaling is about creating clarity, prioritizing your energy, and provides an opportunity for positive self-talk. It is also an amazing way to see how much you’ve grown, changes in mindset, and your progress toward your goals.

Through documenting our thoughts and feelings, we advance our self-awareness and self-control. It gives us the ability to analyze how we are currently showing up in the world and provides us the opportunity to feel empowered in our decisions.

Consider these 10 ways below on how to utilize journaling as Svadhyaya, or self-reflection, either through life, or especially during your experience of going through Yoga Teacher Training. SWIHA Student Blog: Finding The Pause

Posted by Johnie Kolzen on 11/23/21 4:00 PM

When I was a little girl, my parents got divorced. I was 6, my brother 9, my little sister just 5. We went to stay with my dad’s parents so he could continue on his job on the railroad. My grandfather was retired and had been in the navy. My grandmother was a rough and tough sort of woman that had been married five times, rodeo trick rider, sharecropper, all-around tough cookie. I share this with you because I had no pause, my family had no pause. The next steps my family took could have been changed or at the least given a pause, we as a family could see the purpose in our actions. When I was 9, I ran away from home. They called my mom (which I had been told was dead) and she flew to see me face to face to tell me, her daughter, she could not take me back to live with her. She got on a plane the next morning.

How Intuitive Are You? Find Your Strongest Intuitive Skill/Clair

Posted by Jade Marvin on 10/21/21 4:00 PM

With intuition, some refer to it as a gut feeling, instinct, foresight or just a certain knowing that they have within themselves. Regardless, everyone is born with intuition. It can be really easy, and more common than you may realize for people to not trust their intuition or themselves. Especially at the beginning of a spiritual journey or life transition, it can become difficult not to compare how ‘profound’ your experience is to the person next to you.

How do you even become more attuned to your intuition? What does that inner knowing feel like to you? How come I experience intuition differently from the person next to me? All of these questions can be answered by learning what your strongest Intuition skill (or Clair) is. The four Clairs are: Clairvoyance, Clairsentience, Clairaudience, and Claircognizance.

Posted by Jade Marvin on 10/7/21 4:00 PM

If you are unfamiliar with Astro-terminology, Mercury in Retrograde, or more commonly known as Mercury Retrograde, is when the planet Mercury seems to be moving backward - from west to east. The areas of life that Mercury tends to rule are disrupted and can affect each of us differently. In Pursuit of Magic: Lessons Found in the “Spirit” of Halloween

Posted by Taylor Jablonowski on 10/29/18 2:00 PM

The month of October lends itself inherently to the theme of Potential.  It’s a month of transition: days grow shorter, the air cools, and trees shed their leaves in anticipation of a winter nap. It’s the pause before a new chapter, where we reflect on lessons learned while planning for the future.

Ancient Gaels celebrated this mid-point between the autumnal and winter equinoxes with the festival Samhain, meaning “summer’s end”. It marked their harvest time and honored the birth-death-rebirth cycle of Mother Nature through celebrations and rituals. Samhain was eventually incorporated in to Christian culture to take place at the end of October proceeding All Hallows day (November 1st). We now know it as Halloween!
