Energy healing is a holistic approach that works with the body’s natural energy systems to promote balance, healing, and well-being. At the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts (SWIHA), students have the opportunity to train in a variety of energy healing modalities, including Reiki, Polarity Therapy, and Cranial Unwinding. These powerful techniques help practitioners facilitate healing on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels.
Energy healing offers incredible benefits, for those receiving it and practitioners themselves. As an energy healer, one learns to cultivate awareness, deepen intuition, and connect intensely with the body’s natural rhythms. Practitioners often experience heightened personal well-being, emotional clarity, and spiritual growth. In addition, they gain the ability to help others release trauma, reduce stress, and restore harmony in their lives. Becoming an energy healer is more than just a profession—it is a path of self-discovery and service, allowing individuals to make a meaningful impact on the world around them.
Let’s explore various energetic modalities and how SWIHA prepares students to become skilled energy healers:
Cranial Unwinding: Balancing the Nervous System
Cranial Unwinding is an advanced healing technique that focuses on the brain, spine, dural tube, and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). The dural tube is a membrane that surrounds the spinal cord, while the CSF provides cushioning and maintains a rhythmic pulsation, vital for overall nervous system function.
Through gentle touch—applying only about five grams of pressure—practitioners can perceive and manipulate this rhythm to encourage healing. By restoring balance to the energy field within the neck, spine, and pelvis, Cranial Unwinding releases blockages and enhances energy flow.
Benefits of Cranial Unwinding:
- Promotes relaxation and eases tension
- Reduces chronic pain
- Opens energy pathways in the body
- Restores balance and equilibrium
- Revitalizes weakened energy
- Encourages healing and renewal
- Releases trauma from tissues
- Supports better sleep
At SWIHA, students are trained in Cranial Unwinding using research-based techniques that emphasize the importance of the nervous system in holistic healing.
Reiki: Universal Life Energy for Healing
One of the most well-known energy healing practices, Reiki is an ancient Japanese modality that channels Universal Life Energy for self-healing, spiritual growth, and the healing of others.
Traditional Reiki Training at SWIHA:
- Reiki I: Focuses on Reiki history, energy anatomy, self-healing, and attunement to traditional Reiki symbols.
- Reiki II: Expands the practitioner’s understanding of symbols and introduces the practice of healing others.
- Reiki III (Master Level): Attunes practitioners to the Reiki Master symbol and deepens their spiritual journey.
- Shamanic Reiki: Combines traditional Reiki techniques with shamanic practices, including ceremonies and elemental healing with Earth, Water, Fire, and Air.
- Holy Reiki: A Christ-centered approach that incorporates Biblical healing principles and is used in medical and hospice settings.
Polarity Therapy: A Holistic Energy Approach
Polarity Therapy, developed by Dr. Randolph Stone, is an integrative system that addresses energy imbalances in the body resulting from past physical and emotional experiences.
Polarity Therapy’s Four Key Techniques:
- Touch Therapy: Uses acupressure and point-specific energy balancing.
- Movement & Stretching: Encourages the flow of energy through guided exercise.
- Nutrition & Healthy Eating: Supports overall well-being with energy-conscious food choices.
- Mental-Emotional Processing: Facilitates emotional release and mental clarity.
Dr. Stone’s teachings blend principles from Ayurveda, Taoism, Yoga, and mystic Christianity, providing a deeply holistic perspective on healing.
Which Path Calls to You?
Each of these energy healing modalities—whether it’s the rhythmic flow of Cranial Unwinding, the spiritual alignment of Reiki, or the integrative balance of Polarity Therapy—offers a unique and powerful way to support healing and transformation. As you reflect on your own interests, gifts, and calling, ask yourself: Which modality resonates most deeply with you? Which path aligns with the kind of healer you feel called to become? Your journey toward helping others heal might just begin with healing yourself.
At SWIHA, students find a transformative learning environment that honors both traditional wisdom and modern research. You’ll find the tools, training, and supportive community to explore your path, deepen your practice, and step confidently into your role as an energy healer. We provide hands-on training in these powerful energy-healing modalities, equipping students with the skills to facilitate healing in themselves and others.
If you are being called to explore your gifts and become an energy worker, you are only one “YES” away.
